Founded in 1957, Caja de Compensación Familiar Cafam is a private, non-profit corporation that is part of Colombia's Social Security System. Its primary mission is to improve the quality of life for affiliated workers and their families by managing and distributing monetary subsidies and providing a wide array of services. These services include health plans through its EPS (Entidad Promotora de Salud), educational institutions from kindergartens to technical training, recreational and sports centers, hotels, housing subsidy programs, and consumer credit lines. Cafam serves hundreds of thousands of families, primarily in the Bogotá and Cundinamarca regions, and is one of the most prominent "Cajas de Compensación" in the country.
