Established in 1959 under the Central Bank of Malaysia Act 1958 (revised in 2009), Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) is the nation's central bank. BNM's core functions include formulating and implementing monetary policy, regulating and supervising financial institutions, issuing currency, managing the country's international reserves, and acting as a banker and financial adviser to the Government of Malaysia.
