Banca Popolare di Bari
Information by Research Trustfinance
Founded in 1960, Banca Popolare di Bari (BPB) established itself as a major cooperative bank and the largest financial institution in Southern Italy. The bank's mission has been to support the local economy, serving individuals, families, and small to medium-sized enterprises. Following significant financial difficulties and capital shortfalls, the bank was placed under special administration by the Bank of Italy in December 2019. It has since been recapitalized and is now part of the state-owned Gruppo Mediocredito Centrale, which is leading its restructuring and relaunch plan.
