Associates Home Loan Of Florida, Inc. was a state-level subsidiary of Associates First Capital Corporation ("The Associates"), one of the largest consumer finance companies in the United States, specializing in subprime lending. The company provided home loans and other consumer finance products primarily within Florida. In 2000, Citigroup acquired The Associates for approximately $31 billion. Following the acquisition and amid significant regulatory scrutiny over The Associates' lending practices, Citigroup integrated the operations and began dissolving the brand and its various corporate entities, leading to the formal dissolution of the Florida subsidiary in 2003.
