The Financial Reporting Council Limited is the UK's independent regulator responsible for promoting transparency and integrity in business. Its primary role is to set high standards of corporate governance, reporting, audit, and actuarial practice and to monitor and enforce those standards. The FRC's work aims to build public trust in the financial markets and ensure the UK is a leading place to do business. Established in its current form in 2012, the FRC is currently transitioning to become a new, more powerful statutory body called the Audit, Reporting and Governance Authority (ARGA).
