Southern Maine Finance Agency (SMFA) is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation and a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). Founded in 1992, its mission is to provide subordinate or "gap" financing to businesses in York and Cumberland counties, Maine. By partnering with local banks and other lenders, SMFA aims to create and retain jobs, foster economic development, and provide capital that businesses might not otherwise be able to access for growth and expansion.
