Pi Network was founded by a team of Stanford PhDs with the mission to make cryptocurrency accessible to everyone. Unlike traditional cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin which are difficult for everyday people to use and access, Pi Network enables users to mine on their mobile phones with low resource consumption. The project is currently in the "Enclosed Mainnet" phase, where the Pi blockchain is live but firewalled to prevent external connectivity, allowing for internal testing, KYC (Know Your Customer) verification, and the development of utilities within the ecosystem before the "Open Mainnet" phase begins.
