The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) is an autonomous, statutory body constituted by an Act of Parliament, the IRDA Act, 1999. IRDAI sets the rules and regulations for the functioning of insurance companies, intermediaries, and other related entities to maintain a fair, safe, and stable insurance market for the benefit of all stakeholders.
