Originally established in 1982 as the Independent Mortgage Brokers Association of Ontario (IMBA), the organization served as a non-profit association for mortgage professionals in the province. Its mission was to provide a forum for discussion, professional development, and advocacy with the broader mortgage lending industry. The association has since rebranded to become the Canadian Mortgage Brokers Association - Ontario (CMBA-ON), aligning itself with the national body to strengthen its voice. Today, CMBA-ON continues this mission, promoting the interests and professional standards of its members, providing educational resources, and acting as a key representative body in communications with government, regulators, and lenders.
