Fio Protocol is an open-source, decentralized project built by the Foundation for Interwallet Operability. Its mission is to accelerate the adoption of blockchain technology by improving the user experience. The protocol integrates with crypto wallets, exchanges, and applications to provide a suite of services, including human-readable FIO Crypto Handles (e.g., user@domain) that replace complex public wallet addresses, the ability to request crypto payments, and the capacity to include standardized metadata (like a note or invoice) with transactions. It operates on its own delegated Proof-of-Stake (dPoS) blockchain, powered by the FIO Token ($FIO).
