The Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV), established on September 8, 1939, is the country's principal monetary authority. Its primary mission is to achieve price stability and preserve the internal and external value of the national currency, the Bolívar. The BCV is exclusively authorized to issue currency, centralize the country's international monetary reserves, regulate the national financial system, and act as the fiscal agent and financial advisor to the national government.
