The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) is an autonomous regulatory body, established in 1960. Its primary mission is to ensure price stability, maintain the integrity of the Egyptian banking system, and formulate and implement the nation's monetary, credit, and banking policies. The CBE's core functions include issuing banknotes, managing the state's gold and foreign exchange reserves, regulating and supervising the banking sector, and acting as the banker to the government.
