Beanstalk is a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol that issues an algorithmic stablecoin called BEAN, designed to maintain a value of approximately $1.00 without being backed by traditional collateral. Instead, it uses a credit-based system to manage supply and demand through a decentralized price oracle and on-chain governance managed by the Beanstalk DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization). The protocol's mission is to create a decentralized, censorship-resistant, and liquid stablecoin. Following a major exploit in April 2022, the protocol was relaunched in an event the community termed "The Replant."
