Founded in 1908, Bank of Communications (BOCOM) is one of the oldest banks in modern Chinese history and one of the initial note-issuing banks in the country. Headquartered in Shanghai, it was re-established in 1987 and became the first nationwide state-owned joint-stock commercial bank in China.
