Established in 2011 and officially launched by the Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia (the Central Bank of Malaysia), the Association of Shariah Advisors in Islamic Finance Malaysia (ASAS) serves as the sole professional body for registered Shariah advisors. Its mission is to professionalize the role and function of Shariah advisors, enhance their development, and act as a reference body on Shariah advisory matters for the Islamic finance industry. ASAS works closely with regulators like Bank Negara Malaysia and the Securities Commission Malaysia to set industry standards, provide professional qualification programs, and promote best practices in Shariah governance.
