Founded in 2005 by Joe Duran, United Capital Financial Advisers, LLC grew into one of the largest registered investment advisers (RIAs) in the United States. The firm pioneered the concept of "Financial Life Management," which combined traditional wealth management with a deeper understanding of clients' personal goals and values. In 2019, Goldman Sachs acquired United Capital for $750 million to expand its own wealth management services to high-net-worth clients. The firm has since been fully integrated and rebranded as Goldman Sachs Personal Financial Management, continuing its mission of providing holistic financial planning and investment management under the Goldman Sachs umbrella.
