Great Lakes Financing

Founded in 1967, Great Lakes Educational Loan Services, Inc. grew to become one of the largest servicers of federal student loans in the United States, working on behalf of the U.S. Department of Education. The company's mission has been to help students and their families successfully manage the repayment of their educational loans. In 2018, Great Lakes was acquired by Nelnet, another prominent student loan servicer. Since the acquisition, the Great Lakes brand and operations have been gradually merging into Nelnet, with borrower accounts being migrated to the Nelnet platform.
