Central Investments & Finance PLC

Founded in 1968, Central Investments & Finance PLC (CIFL) operated as a licensed finance company in Sri Lanka. It provided a range of financial services to the public, including accepting fixed deposits and savings, as well as providing leasing, hire purchase, and other credit facilities. The company faced severe financial distress and governance issues for several years. Despite attempts at restructuring, its inability to meet deposit liabilities and maintain financial stability led to regulatory intervention. In March 2023, the Monetary Board of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka cancelled CIFL's license to conduct finance business, and the company is currently in the process of being liquidated.
