Founded in 2000, CapitalSource Inc. was a prominent commercial finance company specializing in providing capital to small and mid-sized businesses across the United States. The company offered a range of financial products, including senior-secured loans, asset-based loans, and equipment financing. In 2014, CapitalSource was acquired by PacWest Bancorp and merged with its banking subsidiary, Pacific Western Bank, to enhance its commercial banking capabilities. The CapitalSource brand and operations were fully integrated. In a subsequent major development in 2023, Pacific Western Bank merged with Banc of California and adopted the Banc of California name and brand for the combined entity. Therefore, the legacy business of CapitalSource now operates as part of Banc of California.
