The Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) and De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) jointly supervise financial institutions in the Caribbean Netherlands, which includes the islands of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba. The AFM's supervision in this region is based on the Financial Markets (BES Islands) Act (Wet financiële markten BES - Wfm BES), which includes a number of additions and some tightening up of the regulations from earlier laws. This framework aims to ensure that financial markets operate in a fair, transparent, and honest manner, with a strong emphasis on preventing financial-economic crimes and unethical behavior.
