Quantopian Inc.

Founded in 2011, Quantopian Inc. was a Boston-based company that provided a free, community-centered platform for individuals to build, test, and share stock trading algorithms. Using the Python programming language, users could access a wealth of financial data to develop and backtest complex quantitative strategies. The company's mission was to attract talented individuals from outside traditional finance and identify profitable algorithms from its user base, which it would then fund with its own capital in a proprietary hedge fund. In November 2020, Quantopian announced it was shutting down its public platform and that its team and technology assets were being acquired by Robinhood.
