Mir

Mir is a Russian national payment system established in 2014 by the Central Bank of Russia. It was created to ensure the country's financial sovereignty and provide a reliable alternative to international card schemes following the imposition of international sanctions. The system is operated by the Joint Stock Company "National Payment Card System" (NSPK). Mir facilitates domestic interbank transactions, issues its own payment cards (debit, credit, and prepaid), and has developed contactless payment technology (Mir Pay). Its mission is to guarantee the security and uninterrupted processing of financial transactions for Russian citizens and businesses.
