Founded in 2012, CreditVidya was a Mumbai-based fintech firm that specialized in digital credit analytics. The company's primary mission was to enable financial inclusion for the vast underbanked and new-to-credit population in India. It developed a proprietary platform that used alternative data sources, such as smartphone data and digital footprints, combined with machine learning algorithms to generate credit scores for individuals who lacked a traditional credit history. This allowed banks and non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) to make more informed lending decisions, reduce fraud, and disburse loans faster. In November 2022, CreditVidya was acquired by CRED, a high-trust community of creditworthy individuals, merchants, and institutions.
