Compliance Commission of The Bahamas

The Compliance Commission is an independent statutory body established under the Compliance Commission Act, 2017. Its core mandate is to maintain oversight of financial services outside the traditional financial and securities sectors. The Commission is responsible for ensuring that various non-financial businesses and professions, such as real estate agents, lawyers, accountants, and dealers in precious metals, adhere to the legal requirements aimed at preventing money laundering, terrorist financing, and proliferation financing. It achieves this through registration, on-site examinations, and enforcement actions.
