The company's business model is to acquire and partner with Registered Investment Adviser (RIA) firms, providing them with capital, value-added services, and operational expertise while allowing them to maintain their operational independence and fiduciary responsibility to clients. In August 2023, Focus was acquired by the private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R) in an all-cash transaction, resulting in its delisting from the public market.
