Founded in 2013 as Abacus Labs, Inc., Abacus emerged from the Y Combinator accelerator program with a mission to eliminate traditional, manual expense reports. The platform is known for its real-time submission and approval workflow, which allows employees to report expenses as they happen. In 2019, Abacus was acquired by Certify, which subsequently merged with Chrome River to form Emburse. Today, Abacus operates as a key product within the Emburse suite of solutions, continuing to provide intuitive, mobile-first expense management for modern businesses, from startups to mid-market companies.
