Founded in 2011 in Hamburg, Deposit Solutions GmbH pioneered the concept of "Open Banking" for savings deposits. The company built a proprietary technology platform that allows banks seeking funding (product banks) to offer their savings products to customers of other financial institutions (client banks) through a single API, without requiring customers to open a new account. In June 2021, Deposit Solutions GmbH merged with its Berlin-based competitor Raisin GmbH to form Raisin DS GmbH (now operating as Raisin). The combined entity provides a B2B platform for partners and operates its own B2C marketplaces across Europe and the United States, offering consumers a wide choice of savings, investment, and pension products from a single registration.
