Founded in 2013, Blooom, Inc. was established with the mission to provide professional, fiduciary financial advice to underserved American workers, regardless of their account balance. The company operates as a robo-advisor, using proprietary technology to analyze a user's retirement accounts, recommend an optimal portfolio allocation based on their risk tolerance and retirement goals, and then manage those investments on their behalf. In July 2021, Blooom was acquired by Ameritas Life Insurance Corp. and its services are now being integrated into the Ameritas brand to expand its workplace retirement and wealth management offerings.
