Founded in 2018 in New York City, Flexa Network Inc. set out to make global commerce more efficient and accessible by enabling cryptocurrency as a viable payment method for everyday purchases. The company developed a decentralized payment network that allows consumers to spend digital assets at physical and online retailers, with transactions being authorized instantly and guaranteed to the merchant. This is achieved through the use of the Amp token (AMP) as collateral, which secures the value of the transaction while it awaits final confirmation on its native blockchain, eliminating risks of fraud or chargebacks for the merchant. In 2022, the open-source Flexa payment protocol was transferred to the Ampera Foundation to foster broader community development, with Flexa now operating as one of the key entities building applications and services on this decentralized infrastructure.
