Citizens Community Bancorp

Originally founded in 1938 as a credit union, the institution later converted to a mutual savings bank and eventually became Citizens Community Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ: CZWI), the publicly traded holding company for Citizens Community Federal N.A. The bank focused on serving the financial needs of individuals, small to medium-sized businesses, and agricultural customers. Its services included personal and business banking, commercial loans, real estate mortgages, and wealth management. In 2021, Citizens Community Bancorp announced its acquisition by Alerus Financial Corporation, a transaction that was completed in the first quarter of 2022, after which its branches and operations were rebranded under the Alerus name.
