Aera Payment & Identification

Aera Payment & Identification AS was a central player in Norway's financial infrastructure, formed to manage and develop two of the country's most critical services: BankAxept, the national debit card payment system, and BankID, the national standard for secure digital identification and signing. The company's mission was to deliver secure, efficient, and user-friendly payment and identification solutions for banks, merchants, and the general public. In 2022, it was announced that Aera would merge with Vipps and the Danish MobilePay. This merger was completed, and the combined entity now operates as Vipps MobilePay AS, aiming to create a leading mobile payment and identification provider in the Nordic region.
