FGDB (Fondul de Garantare a Depozitelor Bancare/ Bank Deposit Guarantee Fund)

The Fondul de Garantare a Depozitelor Bancare (FGDB) is a public law legal person established in Romania to manage the deposit guarantee scheme and the bank resolution fund. Its primary mission is to protect depositors from the failure of a credit institution by ensuring the payment of compensation for their guaranteed deposits, up to a coverage level of EUR 100,000 per depositor per bank. Established in 1996, FGDB plays a crucial role in maintaining public confidence and stability in the Romanian banking system, acting under the supervision of the National Bank of Romania.
