Afrocoin Mobile Money

Launched around 2017, Afrocoin was a blockchain-based project that introduced its own cryptocurrency, Afrocoin (AFRO). The mission was to provide a decentralized digital currency and payment system tailored for the African continent, aiming to overcome traditional banking hurdles with faster, more affordable transactions. The project focused on peer-to-peer payments and remittances, effectively functioning as a crypto-alternative to traditional mobile money services. However, the project appears to have ceased active development and community engagement since approximately 2018-2019.
