Its core service revolves around a unique model that provides real-time atomic settlement and prevents the client's assets from ever becoming part of the company's balance sheet, thus mitigating counterparty risk. In late 2021, it was announced that Koine was acquired by Zodia Custody, an institutional crypto custodian backed by Standard Chartered, to expand Zodia's on-chain and off-exchange settlement services.
