Founded in Amsterdam in 2008, DEGIRO initially served professional investors before launching its online brokerage services for retail clients in the Netherlands in 2013. The company rapidly expanded across 18 European countries, driven by its mission to make investing accessible to everyone through low fees and a user-friendly, technology-focused platform. In 2021, DEGIRO merged with flatex AG, a German online brokerage firm, to create flatexDEGIRO AG, one of the largest online brokers in Europe. DEGIRO operates as a brand of flatexDEGIRO Bank AG and provides access to a wide range of financial instruments, including stocks, ETFs, bonds, options, and futures, across numerous international exchanges.
