DeSo Foundation

The DeSo Foundation oversees the development of Decentralized Social (DeSo), an open-source Layer 1 blockchain built to scale storage-heavy applications and power the future of decentralized social media. The project, founded by Nader Al-Naji, initially launched under the name BitClout in March 2021 before rebranding to DeSo. The foundation's mission is to solve the scalability issues that have historically prevented blockchain from disrupting the social media monopoly. It supports the ecosystem by funding developers, fostering new projects, and managing the core protocol's open-source codebase.
