Founded in August 1999 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, DeRemate.com quickly grew to become one of the leading online marketplace and auction platforms across Latin America. The company provided a platform for individuals and businesses to buy and sell a wide variety of goods and services. After years of intense competition, DeRemate.com was acquired in stages by its main rival, MercadoLibre, between 2005 and 2008. Following the acquisition, all of DeRemate.com's operations, user base, and assets were integrated into MercadoLibre, and the original brand and platform ceased to exist as an independent entity.
