CryptoKitties

Launched in November 2017, CryptoKitties is one of the earliest and most well-known applications of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the Ethereum blockchain. The game was created by the company Axiom Zen, which later spun out Dapper Labs to scale the project and develop the Flow blockchain. The mission of CryptoKitties was to make blockchain technology accessible and engaging for a mainstream audience through the gamified experience of collecting and breeding digital cats. Each CryptoKitty is a unique crypto-asset (an ERC-721 token), and its ownership is tracked on the public Ethereum ledger, making the game a pioneering example of digital scarcity and true digital ownership.
