Founded in Vancouver, British Columbia, Cointrader Exchange Inc. operated as a prominent Canadian digital currency exchange, primarily focusing on Bitcoin trading. It offered a platform for users to buy and sell cryptocurrency and was known for its brokerage services that provided liquidity to the Canadian market. In January 2016, the major global cryptocurrency exchange Kraken acquired Cointrader as part of its strategic expansion into Canada. Following the acquisition, CoinTrader's platform was shut down, and its user base was migrated to Kraken. The legal entity was officially dissolved in May 2018.
