Founded in 2013, Coinmama established itself as one of the early and more user-friendly platforms for purchasing cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum. Operating under the legal entity Cmama Ltd., its mission was to make buying digital currency simple, fast, and secure for a global audience. Unlike a traditional exchange that matches buyers and sellers, Coinmama operated as a broker, selling cryptocurrency directly to customers from its own inventory. It served millions of customers in over 180 countries, offering various payment methods including credit/debit cards and bank transfers. In early 2024, Coinmama announced it was ceasing its services and winding down operations.
