Originally founded as Cobalt DL, the company was established to re-engineer institutional foreign exchange post-trade processing by creating a shared, immutable record of transactions. Utilizing low-latency technology, it provides a 'single source of the truth' for trade data, aiming to significantly reduce operational risk, credit risk, and per-trade costs for participants in the FX market. In October 2021, Cobalt was acquired by FactSet, a global provider of financial information and analytics. It is now integrated into FactSet's suite of workflow solutions, enhancing its capabilities for buy-side and sell-side institutions by providing a comprehensive middle- and back-office solution for FX post-trade management.
