It operates as a commercial consolidator, or "superfund," by taking on the assets and liabilities of DB pension schemes from sponsoring employers. Clara's mission is to act as a secure bridge for members, moving their pensions away from the risks associated with their original sponsoring employer to a safer, long-term insured future. By pooling multiple schemes, Clara aims to provide enhanced security for members' benefits through a dedicated capital buffer and a professional governance and investment model. In 2021, Clara became the first and only superfund to successfully complete The Pensions Regulator's (TPR) rigorous assessment process.
