Founded in 2016, CHANCEN eG operates as a registered cooperative (eG) with the mission to enable equal opportunities in education, regardless of a student's financial background. The company provides an alternative to traditional student loans through its "Umgekehrter Generationenvertrag" (UGV) model, which is an Income Share Agreement (ISA). Under this model, CHANCEN eG covers tuition fees and sometimes living costs, and in return, graduates pay back a pre-defined percentage of their future income for a set period, but only once they earn above a specified minimum income threshold. The cooperative is financed by its members, including private investors, foundations, and former students, who invest in the education of the next generation.
