Launched in late 2019, BTCMEX was a cryptocurrency derivatives exchange designed for both retail and institutional traders. The platform focused on providing high-leverage perpetual contracts on major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum, aiming for high performance and low latency. The company was notably backed by investors from BitMEX, including its co-founder Arthur Hayes. In 2020, shortly after its launch period, the platform was officially rebranded and continued its operations under the new name, Phemex, which expanded its services and market presence.
