Founded in 2014 by three cybersecurity engineers from Amazon and Microsoft, Bittrex was a US-based cryptocurrency exchange headquartered in Seattle, Washington. The company's mission was to provide a secure, reliable, and advanced digital asset trading platform. It later launched Bittrex Global to serve non-US customers. Following significant regulatory pressure from US authorities, Bittrex, Inc. announced it would wind down its US operations in March 2023 and subsequently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May 2023. Bittrex Global announced it would cease all trading operations and enter liquidation in late 2023, officially closing its platform in December 2023.
