Founded in 2002, BitPass was an internet-based payment processing company that specialized in micropayments. Its primary mission was to enable consumers to easily purchase low-cost digital content—such as news articles, music, or game access—without requiring a full subscription. The service acted as a digital wallet, allowing users to pre-load funds and spend them in small increments across various participating websites. Despite its innovative approach to solving the online payment problem for small transactions, the company announced it was ceasing all operations in January 2007.
