Banca CIS

Founded as Credito Industriale Sammarinese, Banca CIS was one of the primary banking institutions in the Republic of San Marino. The bank provided a range of financial products and services to individuals, families, and businesses, including current accounts, loans, mortgages, and investment services. In the late 2010s, the bank faced significant financial distress and severe capital losses, leading to a resolution procedure initiated by the Central Bank of the Republic of San Marino (BCSM) in January 2019. This regulatory intervention resulted in the transfer of its viable operations to a newly created bridge bank, while its non-performing assets were moved to a bad bank, effectively ending the operations of Banca CIS as an independent entity.
