Antoubao Investment Consulting Co., founded in 2014 and based in Shanghai, operated the P2P online lending platform Antoubao.cn. The company's primary business was to act as an intermediary, connecting individual investors with borrowers (primarily small and medium-sized enterprises) in China. Investors could fund loans and earn interest, while the platform managed risk assessment, loan servicing, and payments. The company ceased its primary P2P operations around 2019-2020 as part of a massive, industry-wide regulatory consolidation and crackdown by the Chinese government, which led to the closure of nearly all P2P lending platforms in the country.
