Founded in 2017 by former Intel president Renée James, Ampere Computing was established to design and develop microprocessors optimized for modern cloud and edge computing workloads. The company's mission is to provide a sustainable and power-efficient alternative to legacy processor architectures, enabling data centers to scale performance without proportional increases in power consumption. Their flagship products, the Ampere® Altra® and AmpereOne™ families of processors, are based on the Arm architecture and are specifically engineered for predictability, high performance, and scalability in cloud environments.
