American Student Loan Services, LLC was a Florida-based company that marketed and sold student-loan debt-relief services to consumers across the United States. The company claimed to assist borrowers in applying for and enrolling in federal student loan forgiveness and income-driven repayment programs. In reality, it charged illegal upfront and recurring monthly fees for services that consumers could access for free directly through the U.S. Department of Education. Following a major enforcement action by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) in 2019 for deceptive practices, the company ceased operations.
